Companion Services

The benefits of EA+ membership extend beyond the cardholder. In the event that you suffer a medical emergency while traveling, Emergency Assistance Plus ensures your loved ones are also properly cared for. Simply put, we treat members and their loved ones like family.

*If you choose the EA+ Premier membership level, these services will include additional features described below.

  • Transportation Home for Companion In the event that you are medically evacuated, transported home, or pass away while traveling, EA+ will arrange transportation home for your companion.*
  • Transportation Home for Minor Children If your hospitalization leaves minor children unattended, EA+ will arrange for their transportation home.
  • Pet Housing or Return Home Assistance If you’ve traveled with a pet and can no longer care for them during your medical emergency, EA+ will arrange for their housing or transportation home.*

If an Emergency Occurs, You Won’t Be Alone

Should you end up hospitalized while traveling alone, EA+ will arrange and provide round-trip economy airfare for the person of your choosing to be by your side during that hospitalization.

Your Loved Ones Won’t Face a Tragedy by Themselves

Should the worst happen and you pass away while traveling, EA+ will make the necessary arrangements to have your prepared and/or cremated remains transported to a funeral home close to your residence.

Two Plans to Meet Your Needs

Medical Evacuation

  • Emergency Medical Evacuation via ground or air ambulance, if deemed medically necessary, to get you to a more appropriate hospital if your current facility can’t properly treat your medical condition.
  • Medical Specialist sent to you if your condition can’t be evaluated by phone, you cannot be moved and local treatment is unavailable.

Transportation Home

  • Transportation Home after hospitalization via a one-way airline ticket, arranged and provided by EA+.
  • Transportation Home includes up to two Nurse Escorts or an air ambulance, if deemed medically necessary, to provide continued medical care during your trip home.
  • RV/Vehicle Return if you can’t drive your vehicle back home because your documented medical emergency prohibits it and your companion can’t drive it either.
  • Return of Remains to bring your body home if you pass away while traveling.

  • Pet Housing or Return Home Assistance if you’re traveling with a pet and cannot care for them due to an accident or illness.

  • Transportation Home after hospitalization via a one-way airline ticket, arranged and provided by EA+. When you choose EA+ Premier, your seating will be upgraded to premium economy and you can designate a destination other than your Home.
  • Transportation Home includes up to two Nurse Escorts or an air ambulance, if deemed medically necessary, to provide continued medical care during your trip home.
  • RV/Vehicle Return if you can’t drive your vehicle back home because your documented medical emergency prohibits it and your companion can’t drive it either. When you choose EA+ Premier, we will return up to two vehicles – i.e. if you were traveling with an RV and a second vehicle (not being towed by the RV).
  • Return of Remains service to bring your body home if you pass away while traveling.
When you choose EA+ Premier, you also receive:
  • Hotel Stay After Hospitalization while you are awaiting medical clearance to travel home under Transportation Home services.
  • Bereavement Reunion will arrange and provide, at no charge to you, one round-trip economy airfare ticket to bring a friend or family member to your location to identify and accompany your remains back home if you pass away while traveling alone.

  • Transportation Home for Minor Children or Grandchildren who are left unattended if you’re unable to care for them due to your hospitalization.
  • Pet Housing or Return Home if you’re traveling with a pet and cannot care for them due to an accident or illness. When you choose EA+ Premier, this service is arranged and provided by EA+.

  • Hotel Room for Traveling Companion while you are hospitalized awaiting Transportation Home.

When you choose the EA+ Premier plan, these assistance services are available to you when you are at home, as well as when traveling away from home.
When you purchase a family membership, both you and your spouse have access to all EA+ member services when you are traveling together, or even if you are traveling apart.

Emergency Assistance Plus® (EA+®) is not insurance, it is a membership plan. This is only an outline of the plan’s features. Hospitalization (admitted as an inpatient) is a requirement to be eligible for some services. All services must be arranged and provided by EA+. Please read the EA+ Member Guide carefully to understand all the services available to you, as well as any rules and regulations. EA+ is only available to U.S. residents at this time and is not available to residents of New York. Washington state residents must be traveling more than 100 miles away from home to be eligible for EA+ services.
