Last August, my wife and me and 3 friends took a River cruise on the Mississippi River from St. Louis to Minneapolis with American Queen Voyages. It was a fabulous trip until we docked in Minneapolis. As we departed our ship, I had to carry our luggage to the bus for transfer to the airport in Minneapolis. Our plan was to spend 3 nights in Minneapolis and then fly with 2 of our friends to Alaska, where they live.
Upon getting to the airport to pick up our rental vehicle for our 3 nights in Minneapolis, I suffered a heart attack. The Paramedics arrived quickly, monitored me and loaded me onto an ambulance for transporting me to the hospital, Minnesota Fairview at Southdale. Once in the hospital Emergency Room, they also monitored me at sent me in for a catheterization. The Cath showed I had several blockages that would require a quadruple heart bypass operation.
I was advised by both the staff heart surgeon and my long-term cardiologist at home in Tampa that I needed to have the surgery there. To compound things, they did not have an ICU bed available due to the large number of Covid-19 cases and I would have to wait until one became available for my surgery. Four days later, on September 2, 2021, I had my bypass surgery.
I have to tell you that I made contact with the EA+ team on the second day in the hospital. I was assured that they would take care of my wife’s stay in a hotel nearby and that all the expenses would be taken care of. Needless to say, this was very reassuring to us. From that moment on, everything went very smoothly.
The person assigned to my case called my wife almost daily to check on my condition and to be sure she was ok. After 32 days in the hotel all of the bills were paid, without us having to do anything! In addition, a rescue nurse was flown to Minnesota to fly back with me to my home in Florida! EA+ paid for my airline ticket, in upgraded seating, as well as the nurse, and coach class for my wife. Throughout the whole process, EA+ handled all the arrangements which even included my being wheelchaired through both airports and to a waiting car to drive us from the airport to my home in Wesley Chapel. Even the luggage was taken care of by the driver!
I thank God and EA+ for my having fully recovered and I would HIGHLY recommend (and I have) everyone to purchase EA+ for their travel protection!
