Study Claims Fourth of July is the Deadliest Holiday

Why travelers need to take extra precautions now more than ever

Published on July 1st, 2019

Santa Barbara, CA – The American Safety Council announced, “The 4th of July is the deadliest holiday of the year.” According to 24/7 Wall Street’s 2018 report, there were approximately 540 fatalities and nearly 58,000 serious injuries reported on Independence Day. Alcohol consumption was associated with many of these accidents.

As airfare prices increase, more and more travelers are hopping in their cars to get to their holiday destinations. The American Safety Council says, “All this leads to slow-moving traffic, road rage, stress, and aggression.”

With these alarming statistics, it’s more important now than ever before for travelers to be cautious and take steps to secure their personal safety. People can take action by enrolling in Emergency Assistance Plus (EA+). This travel assistance program is part of a network that offers customized medical, security, and travel assistance to more than 10 million travelers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Some of the program’s services include Medical Evacuation, Medical Assistance, Assistance for Companions, and Transportation Home. EA+ is an annual membership with options for Family protection, so it travels with members all year long, wherever they go.

Whether it’s a trip to the lakeside cabin or cross-country RV tour, EA+ members can travel with confidence this Fourth of July.

EA+ is offered by AGIA, Inc., a leading provider of emergency travel protection and rescue and security products. Each year, EA+ protects hundreds of thousands of members in the event of medical emergencies or security situations.
