EA+ Made this Harrowing Experience So Much Easier

My fiancé, Mike, my granddaughter, Lizzie, and I flew to Cancun, Mexico, where we were secretly going to get married on the beach.  I had 5 grown children, and 16 grandchildren, and Mike had 6 grown children, and 5 grandchildren, so that would have been too many to bring to Mexico, so we made it secretive.  I was 72 and Mike was 68.

The third day that we were there he began to feel poorly, which he never does, but he was afraid to see the doc… if he had Covid we would never get off the island!  It was unlike Mike to stay in the room, not eat, and feel sick for days.  Two days before the wedding, Liz and I went on a tour, leaving Mike, and when we came back, he was eating a muffin.

But that night I heard him get up and he fell face-first on the hard floor.  I jumped out of bed to hear him sucking in air, but he was too heavy for me to roll him over alone, so I was yelling to Lizzie (who was in the other room).  Lizzie is an Army Reservist and was able to go into react mode better than I was at the time, but once we got him on his back he wasn’t breathing. I had her call the resort doctor, who showed up almost immediately, while I was attempting CPR in my panic mode.  That’s when I began to fall apart as I watched the doc crack his ribs and place the defibrillator on him.  When the paramedics got there, they made me leave the room, and they worked on him for an hour, but could not bring him back.  He had a blood clot that went to his heart and died immediately.

Not being able to think straight, I had almost forgotten that I had EA+, and I knew that I had to get this precious man back to his family in Missouri.  They had decided to have him cremated down in Mexico, so I was able to spend the entire next day at the mortuary/crematorium in Playa del Carmen, waiting for the ashes of my dearly beloved husband-to-be.  We were so close to being married, but God had other plans for him.

EA+ took care of transporting him to the mortuary, the cremation, the marble stone vase that I chose to place his ashes in, and all incidentals that took place at the mortuary.  Had we decided to bring his body back to Missouri, they would have covered that, but I was able to carry my beloved back myself.  EA+ made this harrowing experience so much easier, and I am so glad that I had the coverage.  I will never travel without it from now on.

I never dreamed I would be in a position where I could not get myself home from a trip.

On December 30th, 2021, I fell on the pickleball court on the second day of my cruise. I was taken to the ship’s hospital, where the doctor determined I had a compression fracture of the hip. I handed my EA+ card to the ship’s doctor, and they determined I needed to be disembarked at the…
