An Injury in the Great Outdoors

Sam was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to get away to the mountains and lakes for some much needed R&R. Lake Tahoe was one of his favorite getaways, so when the opportunity arose for a hiking weekend Sam jumped at the chance. While on the trail, Sam tripped over a tree root and fell. He immediately felt a searing pain in his ankle. Sam was able to get to help and was rushed to the Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, California, where it was determined his ankle was broken and he’d need surgery. Though the surgery was a success, Sam was unable to put any weight on his injured leg; and to make matters more difficult, Sam’s hospital stay was extended due to an underlying heart issue. Not sure how he would make it home on his own, Sam called Emergency Assistance Plus.

Once he reported his incident, the EA+ Assistance Coordinators sprang into action, collecting the necessary medical records to ensure Sam would be well enough to travel. It was decided that because of his mobility issues, Sam would need extra help getting home, so EA+ arranged and provided a nurse escort to accompany him on his flight back to Los Angeles. Once they landed, an SUV was waiting to take Sam and the nurse escort to a nearby rehab facility where Sam could continue his recovery. All of this was done at no cost to Sam.

Open Heart Surgery Amidst a Dream Italian Cruise

Ivan and Betty were boarding a cruise ship in Venice with a group of friends when Betty began feeling chest pain. They made a visit to the cruise ship doctor and, much to their surprise, a little chest pain turned into an unstable angina diagnosis. Betty needed open heart triple bypass surgery right away. She was transferred to an excellent cardiac center in Mestre, Italy. While at the hospital, Ivan called EA+.

From there, EA+ jumped right in--making sure Betty had the appropriate care she needed. Once the doctors deemed it was medically safe for Betty to return home to Miami, the EA+ staff arranged and provided airline tickets for Betty and Ivan. Due to the medical necessity of Betty's condition, EA+ even arranged for a nurse escort to accompany them and monitor Betty's condition throughout the trip. Ivan and Betty were very impressed with the care they received and how the nurse escort even made sure Betty was doing well once they arrived home safely.

Ivan said, "Although I am a physician, it gave us such peace of mind to have the nurse with us--literally taking care of all the details. It was door-to-door service. Girls Trip Gone Awry

JoAnn and her friend, Paulette, drove down to Fort Myers, Florida to escape the bitter-cold Indiana winter. They anticipated spending their vacation on boat tours at the local harbor, exploring the boardwalk, and enjoying world class entertainment at the local performing arts hall. Not long into their vacation, JoAnn was out for a walk when she tripped and took a nasty fall. The pain in her hip was unbearable. She knew she needed help right away.

After getting to the hospital, the doctor confirmed she broke her hip and needed immediate surgery. JoAnn called her son and had him contact EA+.
