EA+ Helps Summer Vacationer
“Our summer vacation to Wyoming was cut short when I fell off my horse. We were traveling
with friends to enjoy the Wyoming summer and some horseback riding. Unfortunately, the fall left me
with six broken ribs and a punctured lung. My husband called EA+ representatives for assistance in
returning us home to Nebraska. After discussing the case with an EA+ Physician Advisor, the attending
physician advised against air travel with concerns about changes in air pressure and the affect it
would have on my injured lung. Having driven up in our friends’ truck, there was no comfortable way
to transport me back home. The EA+ Coordinator offered to help us rent a vehicle that would allow
me to recline comfortably and safely for the six to eight hour drive home. Thankfully, it was determined
that I did not require readmission to a hospital in Nebraska. My husband was able to drive me home
safely, leaving our horses with our friends in Wyoming.”

EA+ Assists Family After Car Crash
“Our family vacation quickly became a tragedy when the car we were riding in was broadsided
as we traveled from the airport to our hotel. Barely having arrived in Orlando, we soon found
ourselves in the emergency room of the local hospital. Thankfully, my two children were unharmed
in the accident, but tragically my husband had been killed. I suffered from facial cuts and
bruises and required surgery on my arm.
My sister-in-law contacted the EA+ Coordinators for assistance. The EA+ Coordinator offered to
help with returning my husband’s body to our home in California, while continuing to monitor my
medical condition.
I was shortly released from the hospital and we returned home to California. EA+ Coordinators
continued to monitor the situation, making arrangements between funeral homes to transport my
husband’s body. Never did I think that our EA+ coverage would help us out so much.”

EA+ Helps Victim of Brain Meningitis
“While vacationing in Maine, I suffered from a severe headache. My visit to the emergency
room was just in time, as I was diagnosed with a bleeding brain and meningitis. Unfortunately, my
health continued to deteriorate, and I soon became paralyzed. The extensive rehabilitation that I
required would take months. Four weeks after I was initially admitted to the hospital, my wife decided
it was time to return home to Louisiana, so she called the EA+ Coordinators for assistance.
The best way to transport a paralyzed patient from Maine to Louisiana was by air ambulance.
EA+ Coordinators made arrangements with an air ambulance company for my wife and I to return to Louisiana.
There, I continued with the rehabilitation in the familiar environment of my hometown.”

EA+ Drove My RV Home
“While I was vacationing in Texas, I got hit by a car while riding my bicycle. Fortunately, the
only injury I received from the incident was a broken collar bone. This injury prevented me from driving
my RV back home, so I called the EA+ Coordinators for help. The Assistance Coordinators made flight
arrangements for the return trip and coordinated for my RV to be returned to Illinois. Once back home,
I called to thank the EA+ Coordinators that offered me assistance. I was very grateful and I look forward
to my next trip, knowing that I don’t have to worry about anything with my EA+ coverage.”

EA+ Supports a Life-Critical Operation
“When a blood clot was found in my brain while we were vacationing in Michigan, I had to undergo
an emergency surgery immediately. After the surgery, my wife contacted the EA+ Coordinators for help in
returning us home to Texas. Once the doctors determined that I was healthy enough to fly home, EA+
Coordinators made travel arrangements for us. Although the EA+ Coordinators made sure to make arrangements
for our car to be returned to Texas, we had our son drive it back. We made it back home safely, thanks to
the EA+ Coordinators that made everything so easy on us.”

EA+ Helps with the Flu
“Our annual road trip to enjoy springtime in the Appalachians was cut short when my husband was
hospitalized for a stomach virus and dehydration. Due to the long journey, the treating physician did not
recommend that my husband and I drive our van home. Instead, I called the EA+ Coordinators for help. They
went into action, making flight arrangements for us to return to Massachusetts. While our EA+ services also
provided for coordination of vehicle return, we decided that a family friend would drive the van
home.”
